How’s Your Passion For Life?

A few weeks ago while I was at dinner with my family, I overheard a group of businessmen talking. And they were lamenting the fact that it seemed like every week was the same. They were complaining that life was like the movie “Groundhog Day” and than every day felt like the same thing over and over. Not just at work, but it felt like the same thing at home with their families. Get up, get ready, get the kids to school, go to work, repeat.

Maybe you feel the same way. I know that I go though times in my life when I feel that way.

And that what this blog post is about. Passion. When things feel like the same thing over and over, it means that maybe you have lost passion. I’m not talking about the romanticized passion. But passion for life.

We are all facing challenges we have never faced before. The media has poisoned even the most optimistic views of what is possible in life. If you want your 2019 to be a great year, then you had better break out of the fog and crank up your enthusiasm for you life and your family.

The first step in this is to give yourself an “attitude adjustment” and get your mojo back. A big part of that is to shake your routine up. A mentor of mine, Dr. Shawn Dill, said in a recent podcast that “routine is the killer of creativity”. So start doing things differently.

Get up earlier. Read a book for 10 minutes. Exercise. Drink more water. Do a daily gratitude journal. Get off of social media. Take a different route to work today. Get outside in nature and get in the sun. Pay close attention to your inner self-talk – this has a huge impact on you.

Full transparency here…I am talking to myself as much as I am talking to you. So I’m committing to this as well.

Please remember, YOU have the power to write your own life’s script. Take responsibility for your thoughts, behaviors, and feelings. Choose to be proactive in life and not just let life happen to you. Get out there and make changes so that you begin to live with passion again. Take charge of what goes into your brain every single day.

Invest some time in improving yourself in 2019. And this will be the best year of your life. It starts TODAY!
